Salt of The Earth

There are people who are easy to get along with. There are others who never miss the opportunity for a fight of some sort of conflict. The “salt of the earth” people are simply helpful and considerate of others. I also think the “salt of the earth” people seek to compliment others and not just glorify or draw attention to themselves.

David penned a beautiful psalm blessing people who are a blessing to others. Check this out…

Who may worship in your sanctuary, Lord?
Who may enter your presence on your holy hill?
Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right,
speaking the truth from sincere hearts.
Those who refuse to gossip
    or harm their neighbors
or speak evil of their friends.
Those who despise flagrant sinners,
and honor the faithful followers of the Lord,
and keep their promises even when it hurts.
Those who lend money without charging interest,
and who cannot be bribed to lie about the innocent.
Such people will stand firm forever. (Psalm 15:1-5 NLT)

Salt is known best for bringing out the flavor in food.

Salt is also known as a food preservative.

Salt is an important nutrient to the human body.

I want to be a “salt of the earth” type of person. I want my life to enhance the flavor of others’ lives. I want my life to also serve a preservative by pointing to the Son of God as the Savior of my soul.  Jesus spoke about salt in His “Sermon on the Mount”. Check this out…

13 “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless.  -Jesus  (Matthew 5:13 NLT)

Pressing On!
