Safety Rest

LKR032459There have been times when I watch a scary movie that it’s hard to go to sleep hearing things. My mind is busy and my adrenaline has opened up the gates. I’m really trying to settle down and rest. I’ve locked all the doors and I’ve checked the house alarm system so I should feel safe. As I’ve gotten older, I don’t fear as much. There is usually an explanation for the noise out back or on the front porch like a dog or raccoon. I’m probably a bit too trusting, but I do have quick access to protection while I’m in my home.  The Lord promises rest as I walk with Him and put my trust in Him.  Check this out….

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High

    will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,

    my God, in whom I trust.”
14 “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;

    I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;

    I will be with him in trouble,

    I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him

    and show him my salvation.” (Psalm 91:1-2;14-16 NIV)

This life is not a suspense thriller – I know how it ends.  The Lord is in charge of eternity as well as life here and now. This life is connected to eternal life; therefore I’m putting my trust in Him. The One Who controls the present and the future is The Lord and I will trust in Him. He also erases my past – allows me to learn from it, but He removes it from my chart. I want to rest in His shadow. I want to honor Him because He gives me rest in the safety of His protection.

Pressing On!
Dwayne
