Safe Place

I’ve always tried to make my home a safe place for my family. I have security features in place at my home. I have locking doors; a security system and I have a firearm for the last resort of protection. I do like feeling like I’m in a safe place. I’ve known a lot of men and women in law enforcement. They see the threats to the safety of others. They see the criminal element almost daily. I would suggest that law enforcement officers have instincts and trained eyes to see the threats to safety pretty quickly.

I’ve learned over the years that my safety is really in the hands of the Lord. I don’t walk across a busy 4 lane high way and dare someone to hit me. I do believe that the Lord wired me with some common sense. I can’t see all the threats that are all around me, but the Lord can see them. I don’t understand why He doesn’t save everyone from harm. I hope to ask Him that one day. I lean into Him for a safe place to hang out and rest. King David learned that the Lord was the ultimate security detail.  Check this out…

From the ends of the earth,
I cry to you for help
    when my heart is overwhelmed.
Lead me to the towering rock of safety,
for you are my safe refuge,
a fortress where my enemies cannot reach me.
Let me live forever in your sanctuary,
safe beneath the shelter of your wings!

For you have heard my vows, O God.
You have given me an inheritance reserved for those who fear your name.(Psalm 61:2-5 NLT)

I want to walk daily with the Lord so that I’m not living in fear or living out my faith because of fear. I believe that the Lord can teach me each day that I spend time in His Word. I believe that He builds on my faith, hope and confidence in Him through my daily journey in His Word. He simply speaks into my very soul words of comfort and peace. I’m so grateful for His Presence when I’m overwhelmed or scared. I’m learning to trust Him even when I don’t “feel His Presence”. He is consistent. He is faithful. He is patient. He is Present and Powerful to Protect me. I believe that He has my future secured because of all that He has done. The Lord is my safe place.

Pressing On!
