Restored Perspective

Life itself sometimes distorts my perspective. In fact, my perspective is often a bit in flux due to circumstances beyond my control.  I think perspective should be an anchor point. I see the Lord as the One Who consistently gives me perspective. If I can see things through His eyes, there is a grounded perspective. If I see things only through the eyes of others, my perspective can be skewed. Another good example might be when I see a news report on an accident or some other newsworthy event. As I see or read the perspective of the person reporting, it shapes my perspective as well.

The people of Judah had lost all perspective of God. Under the leadership of some of the awful kings, they had quit worshipping the Lord. They had lost perspective of Who God is and all that He could do in their lives. Along comes King Hezekiah and perspective of God was restored.  The king ordered the temple cleaned up and restored. He asked the Levites to concentrate themselves and put the temple back in shape. They did all that the king asked in 16 days and the king led a worship/dedication service. Check this out…

25 King Hezekiah then stationed the Levites at the Temple of the Lord with cymbals, lyres, and harps. He obeyed all the commands that the Lord had given to King David through Gad, the king’s seer, and the prophet Nathan.26 The Levites then took their positions around the Temple with the instruments of David, and the priests took their positions with the trumpets.

27 Then Hezekiah ordered that the burnt offering be placed on the altar. As the burnt offering was presented, songs of praise to the Lord were begun, accompanied by the trumpets and other instruments of David, the former king of Israel. 28 The entire assembly worshiped the Lord as the singers sang and the trumpets blew, until all the burnt offerings were finished. 29 Then the king and everyone with him bowed down in worship. 30 King Hezekiah and the officials ordered the Levites to praise the Lord with the psalms written by David and by Asaph the seer. So they offered joyous praise and bowed down in worship. (2 Chronicles 29:25-30 NLT)

It is way too easy to lose perspective in many areas of life. If I lose my perspective on Who God is and all that He does in my life, I can lose hope too. Perspective is the lens through which I see things around me. Perspective is also the lens through which I see things happening to me. I believe that the Word of God can give me a solid perspective that is from Creator God. I can understand many things that happen, and I can see them from the Lord’s perspective. When I view things from His Perspective, I have great hope. When I see things from the Lord’s perspective, I have purpose and clear direction.  When I try to do things my own way, I can lose perspective and lose my way. I need to work at keeping my perspective restored from the Lord’s view.

Pressing On!
