Restoration Promise

I am not really a fan at restoring furniture or stripping and restoring floors. Don’t get me wrong, the pieces are beautiful after proper restoration as are nice wood floors. The process is time consuming and pretty messy. Some people enjoy that work because after you finish you see what looks like something brand new!

The Lord is in the restoring business. I’ve lost count at the number of times He has restored my soul. He doesn’t need restoring, but I do. He is consistent and faithful and I’m not either of those. I talk to the Lord often. I read His Word almost every day, but I still allow my heart to wander away. I have my own idols much like the people of Israel did in Jeremiah’s day. My idols are not wooden statues, but they exist deep in my heart. I believe an idol of the heart is anything that is placed in front of the Lord. He wants my allegiance and undivided devotion. I need His help accomplishing this for sure.

The Lord reminds Jeremiah that restoration will happen once again in Israel. As Babylon is about to take out Jerusalem, the Lord is reminding the people that one day, they will return. Check this out…

37 I will certainly bring my people back again from all the countries where I will scatter them in my fury. I will bring them back to this very city and let them live in peace and safety. 38 They will be my people, and I will be their God. 39 And I will give them one heart and one purpose: to worship me forever, for their own good and for the good of all their descendants. 40 And I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good for them. I will put a desire in their hearts to worship me, and they will never leave me. (Jeremiah 32:37-40 NLT)

I want to have one heart and one purpose now.

I want to live in peace and safety now.

I want to worship the Lord daily with a heart filled with gratitude.

I want the Presence of the Lord to be all over me every day of my life.

I need daily restoration of my soul by the Lord.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
