Rescue

I was involved in a car accident when I was a junior in high school. My parents were in another county working. There were no real injuries, thankfully. I remember my dad’s boss coming to my rescue. He helped me get the car towed and then he took me home. He knew that my dad would not be happy about this, even though the accident wasn’t my fault. I remember being glad that this man helped. I was a bit shook up, but he seemed to not be worried and insisted on helping.

I can’t begin to count the times that I believe God has rescued me. There have been many close calls and other situations where life was a mess and He rescued me. Moses has a crazy experience with a bush that is burning, but not consumed. He is intrigued by the phenomenon. God clearly his attention. Check this out….

Then the Lord told him, “I have certainly seen the oppression of my people in Egypt. I have heard their cries of distress because of their harsh slave drivers. Yes, I am aware of their sufferingSo I have come down to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians and lead them out of Egypt into their own fertile and spacious land. (Exodus 3:7-8a NLT)

This passage encouraged me because God sees me when I’m hurting.

God sees me when I’m sad.

God sees me when suffering.

God sees me when I’m sad.

God sees me when I’m struggling.

God sees me when I’m lost.

God sees me wherever I am and whatever I’m doing. He comes to my rescue.

I recently learned some news that hurt me. I stewed over it a few days and realized that I hadn’t really talked to the Lord about it. He reminded me of His Presence in me and how He was living in me and working through me. It made my hurt seem so small considering all He is doing. I felt rescued from hurt and self-pity which can grow into a big negative mess.

I need Him to rescue me from me every day. I need Him to restate my circumstances. His perspective on my suffering is always different than my view from here. I need His view from there. I’m so thankful that He is in the “rescue business” and I’ve been rescued more times than I can count.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
