Rescue

I was rescued years ago when I thought I was going to drown. I was on a whitewater adventure in the mountains of North Carolina with a group from church. I had my 12-year-old son, Andrew with me. When through a rapid nicknamed “taco” because it folds the boat like a tube and then springs back and often someone gets tossed overboard. That someone was me. I’m not sure how much water I drank, but I was trying to fight the never-ending supply of water coming at me. The guide was reminding me to turn my body and face down stream as they kept moving. I remember this is in the pre-training session where they remind us of safety right before you sign an injury waiver. I bounced off several rocks and went through at least two intense rapids and fighting to stay afloat. I know that the people in my boat were a bit nervous. The guide and one of the other people in my boat finally pulled me into the boat. I remember being exhausted, wilted, tired and embarrassed. It’s a fun trip when everything goes as planned. I think that was the last time I’ve gone white-water rafting.

Isaiah foretells of rescue that is coming to God’s people. This will inspire them and give them hope to hang on to what they know about God. Check this out…

1Look, a righteous king is coming!
And honest princes will rule under him.
Each one will be like a shelter from the wind
and a refuge from the storm,
like streams of water in the desert
and the shadow of a great rock in a parched land.

Then everyone who has eyes will be able to see the truth,
and everyone who has ears will be able to hear it.
Even the hotheads will be full of sense and understanding.
Those who stammer will speak out plainly.(Isaiah 32:1-4 NLT)

I need rescue on a daily basis.

I am prone to wander and follow the noise and attraction of sin.

I can’t always see the dangers ahead with those choices.

I am so thankful that the Lord provides me with His Presence when I need rescue. He reminds me of His deep love for me. He reminds me of His Mercy and Grace for which I am profoundly grateful.

I can’t imagine walking through some of the dark times I’ve faced without The Lord lighting the path before me. I just know that when I needed rescue He came.

I needed rescue
My sin was heavy
But chains break at the weight of Your glory
I needed shelter
I was an orphan
Now You call me a citizen of heaven
When I was broken
You were my healing
Your love is the air that I’m breathing
I have a future
My eyes are open (Glorious Dayby Passion)

I’m so thankful for rescue by the Lord.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
