Rescue

I’m very thankful for our first responders who are highly trained to snatch people from a burning car or building. They will dive into frigid water to save a drowning person or break through a wall to save others. Our Fire & Rescue personnel are skilled and called to a life of service. I’m thankful for their work. Our military are rescuers at a different level. They go into situations with stealth and tactical strength to rescue or stabilize a volatile situation. I’m so very thankful to have rescuers like this.

The Lord is the Ultimate Rescuer. The Lord is the Ultimate First Responder. His Presence in me settles my soul in unsettling situations. His Presence heals my heart when it’s broken. King David penned multiple psalms acknowledging the Lord’s Presence. Check this out….

O Lord, rescue me from evil people.
    Protect me from those who are violent,
those who plot evil in their hearts
    and stir up trouble all day long.
Their tongues sting like a snake;
    the venom of a viper drips from their lips.

12 But I know the Lord will help those they persecute;
    he will give justice to the poor.
13 Surely righteous people are praising your name;
    the godly will live in your presence. (Psalm 140:1-3, 12-13 NLT)

When I’m in situations where I have no control, I must stay in control of my emotions. When the situation calls for calm, I must remain calm from the inside out. This is easier to say than it is to do. His Presence in me is a HUGE calming influence. I’ve learned of His Power so I trust in His Presence. His reputation for rescue is written about throughout the pages of scripture. His reputation for rescue is written on the pages of my life as well. He has rescued me from deep pain. He has rescued me from profound fear. He has rescued me from self-destruction. His Presence changed my perspective on every facet of my life. I see His hand in every area of my world. I see His hand in the lives of others. He rescues and He also prevents the need for rescue when I trust Him from the start.  I’m thankful for His Prompting that often prevents the need for rescue. I’m thankful for His Presence which prevents the enemy from advance or attack. I wan to live in His Presence all the days of my life here on earth so that I can live in His Presence for eternity.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
