Reminded

I have found that even when I was younger, I needed reminding a lot. I needed reminded of deep friendships and deep commitments from others. I needed reminding of God’s Presence and God’s Patience with me as I stumble and bumble my way to Him.  I have been a follower of the Lord since I was in third grade, but my memory of all His goodness is sometimes “hit or miss”.

Samuel is introducing the first king of Israel. The people of Israel had forgotten that God was their king. Samuel challenges the memory of Israel. Check this out…

Now stand here quietly before the Lord as I remind you of all the great things the Lord has done for you and your ancestors. (1 Samuel 12:7 NLT)

When I take time to reflect over the years of my journey with the Lord, He has guided and directed my steps. He called me to serve my family. He called me to serve Him in ministry. He called me to serve Him in business. He calls me to serve Him each day. It is helpful as I serve Him today to be reminded of His faithfulness over the years.  I could probably write a very long list of the great things the Lord has done for me over the years. I think the important thing that His Word does is remind me occasionally of His Goodness and His Faithfulness. He has made me to be the man I am today and without Him, I’m not sure where I’d be.

I needed to be reminded of the Lord’s Presence in me.

I needed to be reminded of the Lord’s Patience with me.

I needed to be reminded of the Lord’s Favor upon me.

Pressing On!
