Refuge Place

This word means a place of shelter or protection from danger or trouble. It is also a place to go for relief, help or escape. I definitely think of the place I call home as my place of refuge. I can relax and withdraw from public when I’m home. I can be with my family, who know me best and love me the most. My life quiets down more when I’m home. My work does follow me sometimes because I’m still “connected” to the world via cell phone and email. The intensity is usually a lot less because I’m at my place of refuge in the evenings, mornings and on weekends. I like rising early because it’s still calm and quiet in my place of refuge.

I know that the cities of refuge were designed for people fleeing from accidental murder. I think it was a place where people could expect due process. The Lord commanded that these cities be designated among the people of Israel in their new territory. He knew that things would happen and that these towns were needed. Check this out….

These cities were set apart for all the Israelites as well as the foreigners living among them. Anyone who accidentally killed another person could take refuge in one of these cities. In this way, they could escape being killed in revenge prior to standing trial before the local assembly. (Joshua 20:9 NLT)

If a major event happened and I were involved the paparazzi would show up in force to try to get a story.  I’ve seen this time and time again on the news when something happens, and the people involved are seeking solitude from the press and their home is their place of refuge until the news media shows up.  I love where I live and I’m so thankful for my home where I seek refuge in the evening and morning.

I’m thankful that the Lord provided a place of refuge for His people. I’m thankful for my place of refuge each day.  I’m thankful for peace and quiet in my place of refuge where I can hear from the Waymaker, Miracle Worker, Promise Keeper & Light in the Darkness.  He is working all around my life and in my life to be my place of refuge. He wants to direct my life and dwell inside my soul and He does some of His best work when I’m in my place of refuge.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
