Recall

As I get older, my memory is not quite as sharp as it once was. I can remember a face quicker than I can recall the person’s first and last name. I can usually remember their first name. I can remember gifts I got last Christmas, but have a hard time remember what I had for dinner two nights ago. I am working on my memory because there are so many things that I want to recall when the timing is right. I want to remember my wedding anniversary. I want to remember my wife’s birthday. I also want to remember my family that has gone before me into eternity. I also want to remember what it was like to be lost. My life before I trusted the Lord was not full of joy and life. My life before Jesus was full of stress, darkness and death. I think it’s wise to remember lessons learned from experience. It’s even wiser to learn from another person’s experience.

Solomon loads me up on wisdom in the Proverbs. He writes some short sayings that are significant in life for sure. Check this out…..

17 Listen to the words of the wise;
    apply your heart to my instruction.
18 For it is good to keep these sayings in your heart
    and always ready on your lips.
19 I am teaching you today—yes, you—
    so you will trust in the Lord.

1Choose a good reputation over great riches;
    being held in high esteem is better than silver or gold.

The rich and poor have this in common:
    The Lord made them both.(Proverbs 22:17-19; 1-2 NLT)

I want to grow today in my trust of the Lord. He is faithful to me even when I’ve been unfaithful to Him. He gives me grace when I deserve severe punishment. He loves me when I’m unlovable. He teaches me to love like that, because it’s simply Who He is. He came to the earth as a helpless child so that He could help us find our way to God. Jesus came and introduced us to our Father in heaven. I remember my sin, but often forget His grace. I’m thankful for Him saving me – I should never take His Presence in my heart for granted. I need Him in my heart. I need His Presence to be all over me. I want to speak what He would have me say. I want to do what He would have me do.

Pressing On!
