Realize

I think that this word can be very sobering. I have done things in my past without thinking that they would show up in my future. I was reminded recently that my eating habits and exercise habits directly affect my weight and my health. I know that I knew that, but I think that there is often a disconnect between what I know and what I do about what I know. I like what I like right now. I want what I want right now. When I constantly give myself what I want, I will wake up one day and realize what I’ve been doing.

We live in a sensual society for sure. I see people who go for what they want at the expense of their future hopes and dreams. Song of Solomon is definitely a “sensual” book. I think one can draw a parallel between the way God loves His bride, the church and His kids and a healthy marriage relationship. God loves us big time and wants us to love Him, honor Him, obey Him and surrender to Him. He wants what is best for us and the boundaries He puts around us are to protect us and keep us healthy and growing in wisdom and discernment. Check this out….

11 I went down to the grove of walnut trees
and out to the valley to see the new spring growth,
to see whether the grapevines had budded
or the pomegranates were in bloom.
12 Before I realized it,
my strong desires had taken me to the chariot of a noble man. (Song of Solomon 6:11-12 NLT)

I believe that my desires can crush my dreams.

I believe that self-discipline can keep my desires in check.

I believe that my eyes are the window to my soul. I need to guard my eyes.

I believe that my present becomes my past but has a way of showing up in my future.

I believe that the Word of God can keep me steady and strong in following the Lord.

I believe that my heart is diseased and disgusting before the Lord cleans it up.

I want to keep my desires in check as I walk out my faith and live out my life.

I want to be aware that my desires can mislead me before I realize it.

I want to be innocent but on guard against the enemy who wants to fuel my desires that will lead to my destruction.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
