Protection Plan

During this pandemic, there have been many strategies and models of flattening the curve. The shelter in place really diminished the spread of COVID-19 for sure. It now seems to me that the pendulum has moved too far in the other direction. I think we should still have a plan of protection and prevention for sure. This pandemic is no respecter of persons on timelines.

In a coup, there is definitely a fight for power and authority. The ultimate goal of a coup is to take out the main leader and anyone who gets in the way of that. The protectors of the kingdom have a plan to protect the king at all costs. In the coup that Absalom has initiated, they really want to take out King David. Check this out…

1 David now mustered the men who were with him and appointed generals and captains to lead them. He sent the troops out in three groups, placing one group under Joab, one under Joab’s brother Abishai son of Zeruiah, and one under Ittai, the man from Gath. The king told his troops, “I am going out with you.”

But his men objected strongly. “You must not go,” they urged. “If we have to turn and run—and even if half of us die—it will make no difference to Absalom’s troops; they will be looking only for you. You are worth 10,000 of us, and it is better that you stay here in the town and send help if we need it.”

“If you think that’s the best plan, I’ll do it,” the king answered. So he stood alongside the gate of the town as all the troops marched out in groups of hundreds and of thousands. (2 Samuel 18:1-4 NLT)

When I’m serving under other leaders, I should be aware of my service and be protective of them. As a church leader, one of my charges is to protect the church as well as those who serve on the staff.  Even as a leader at the real estate company, I’m protective of the people I lead. I think also of us should have a protection plan for our family, and ourselves.  I think the Lord wired us with some self-preservation inside. As we serve others, we are not just concerned about protecting ourselves, we are concerned with the protection of others.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
