Protection

It looks like a rainy day today in Georgia. I will usually have an umbrella in my truck to protect me from getting too wet when I’m out in the rain. On sunny days, I need protection from too much sun. When it’s cold I usually wear a coat. At times these things are for comfort, but on other occasions, they are for my protection. There are many jobs where protective equipment is needed.

David pens a beautiful prayer speaking of the Lord’s protection. I do pray to the Lord a lot for protection. He protects me from things I can’t see. He protects me from things I’m not aware is even a threat to me.  He protects me from me. He protects me from my selfishness. He protects me from my own self-destructive behavior. Check this out….

12 How can I know all the sins lurking in my heart?
Cleanse me from these hidden faults.
13 Keep your servant from deliberate sins!
    Don’t let them control me.
Then I will be free of guilt
    and innocent of great sin.

14 May the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart
be pleasing to you,
O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. (Psalm 19:12-14 NLT)

This is an excellent prayer for the Lord’s protection. I’m also praying for the Lord’s Presence in my life. When He is present, my view of each situation is different. The thing is, He’s always Present. I think sin hinders my view of the Lord’s Presence.  I can always find Him when I look for Him. I get a bit self-centered at times and can’t see anyone but me. I’m praying for the Lord to make Himself known to me all the time. I want to see Him. I want to feel His Presence. I do believe that when I’m sitting before Him in His Word, He clarifies so many areas. Listening to His Word, makes me more aware of my sin. Listening to His Word forms my words into worship. Listening to His Word can sanitize my heart.  As I study and meditate in His Word, I get smaller, and He gets bigger. His Presence becomes crystal clear when I’m spending time with Him in His Word. His Presence in me is protection for me.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
