Protection

I was privileged to be at the State Capitol with the Georgia REALTORS yesterday. As I was standing in line to go through security, I was reminded of days when this wasn’t the protocol. Airport security is now part of travel time that must be computed into our schedule. If I go to a baseball game, I must now go through security and have my bags checked. I guess it was a matter of time before bad people started targeting large crowds of people. I do like protection and I try very hard to be “situationally aware” at all times. I have friends and family in law enforcement and they are interesting to observe how they scan a room or people that they see nearby. I’m often oblivious to a potential threat.

I enjoy watching movies that show the security team around the leaders of our country. They are highly protected and guarded at all times. There are probably tons of credible threats daily upon the President and key leaders.

King Solomon had an entourage as well. He traveled in a chariot that was probably like today’s Presidential limousine. Check this out….

Look, it is Solomon’s carriage,
    surrounded by sixty heroic men,
    the best of Israel’s soldiers.
They are all skilled swordsmen,
    experienced warriors.
Each wears a sword on his thigh,
ready to defend the king against an attack in the night. (Song of Songs 3:7-8 NLT)

I don’t have the protection anywhere near our governor, president or an elected official. I’m just a regular guy who seeks to be a leader in my family, my church, my community and my profession. I do have protection around me, but it’s invisible to the human eye. The Lord is my Protection. He guards my steps. He walks with me. He goes before me and He goes beside me. I can feel His Presence. I need His Presence and His Protection. There are times when fear creeps in, but I know I’m protected. Someone defined “fear” with an acrostic: False Evidence AppearingReal.

I want to grow in my faith and trust in God.

I want to be constantly aware of God’s Protection, Presence & Provision for me.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
