Prompted

This word means to assist or encourage to do something. I have been prompted many times in my life to do something and I didn’t realize at the time that it was the Lord. I believe He prompts me in the smallest situations and it the live altering decisions that I might face. I believe that His Presence in me changes my perspective on everything IF I will listen carefully to His prompting.

Paul, Silas & Timothy have written a second letter to the church at Thessalonica. They are encouraging them and complimenting them on their journey. I found this word “prompts” in the middle of a verse that was uplifting and encouraging. Check this out….

11 So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of his call. May he give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do.12 Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored because of the way you live, and you will be honored along with him. This is all made possible because of the grace of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ. (2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 NLT)

I am often prompted by the Lord when I’m praying. When I stop doing all the talking in prayer, I give Him the opportunity to speak and prompt me to action.

I am also prompted by the Lord when I read His Word. He speaks to me through the pages of scripture when I take the time to read and quietly listen to Him. I often ask His Word to speak into my heart.

I’m also prompted by the Lord at random times throughout the day. He prompts me to make a phone call, send a text, share a compliment, or speak encouragement into the life of another. I believe that when I’m listening to God’s Spirit prompting me, I’m doing what He’s called me to do. I want to listen and serve where He sends me.

Pressing On!
