Promises

I have heard promises. I have made promises. A promise is a declaration or assurance that one will do a particular thing or that a particular thing will happen.  If I believe a promise, I expect that things will go as promised. The issue comes when something is promised but not delivered.

I have been hurt by promises made but not kept by a person close to me. I have people in leadership positions break promises made. Promises that are kept keep building on the relationship. Promises broken dramatically erode a relationship.

King David reminds me that the Lord’s promises are dependable and trustworthy. Check this out….

The Lord replies, “I have seen violence done to the helpless,
and I have heard the groans of the poor.
Now I will rise up to rescue them,
as they have longed for me to do.”
The Lord’s promises are pure,
like silver refined in a furnace,
purified seven times over. (Psalm 12:5-6 NLT)

The faithfulness of God to keep His Promises is unmatched by anyone. His Word is true. His Word is filled with promises that He’s kept and promises that He’s still keeping.

God of Abraham
You’re the God of covenant and faithful promises
Time and time again
You have proven
You’ll do just what You said

Though the storms may come
And the winds may blow, I’ll remain steadfast
And let my heart learn when You speak a word
It will come to pass

Great is Your faithfulness to me
Great is Your faithfulness to me
From the rising sun to the setting same
I will praise Your name
Great is Your faithfulness to me.
