Procession

I’ve been a part of a parade on the fourth of July. I’ve never been the honoree, but it’s fun riding on a float or walking through seeing the people gathered along the route. The purpose of celebrating is the Independence Day we celebrate.

Jesus became the honoree in procession because of His reputation and Father God had planned for Him to become known. It wasn’t as impromptu as it felt. Jesus instructed a couple of His followers to go into town to a specific address to get a colt that had never been ridden. He was fulfilling prophesy and heading into town. Check this out…

Many in the crowd spread their garments on the road ahead of him, and others spread leafy branches they had cut in the fields. Jesus was in the center of the procession, and the people all around him were shouting,

“Praise God!
Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the Lord!
10 Blessings on the coming Kingdom of our ancestor David!
Praise God in highest heaven!” (Mark 11:8-10 NLT)

Jesus wants to be the centerpiece of my heart.

He wants to be the center of my attention.

He wants to be made known in our lives.

He wants to be made known in our world.

He longs to be worshipped and honored for all He has done. He is still doing what He came here to do in the first place – He came to seek and save lost people.

I sometimes find myself desiring notice or accolades for something I’ve done or I’m doing. My heart belongs to Him, and I should want to make Him famous. I should not want to make myself known. If I do anything or have done anything worth of a processional or parade, it’s because of Him. There will likely be a procession of sorts when this earthly body is laid to rest. It will not be as fun and festive as a parade, but it will likely happen at some point no matter what I do with my life. I hope that at my “final processional” that people will know that I walked with the Lord. I hope that my deep faith will be remembered and will inspire others to seek the Lord with their heart.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
