Predictions or Prophecy
I remember when a guy predicted that the Lord would come back in September 1988. His message got out to the world, but many scoffed and doubted. I must confess that I was one of them. It is my understanding that the Lord is the only One Who knows when He will come back to take His kids to heaven. Let me say that I do believe that this is the end times. If I do the math, it’s not really been that long since Jesus walked the earth on God’s time-table. I think I’d be wiser to not worry about WHEN He’s coming back and simply be ready BECAUSE He’s coming back.
There are a good many self-proclaimed prophets who seem to know lots of things. I will confess that I’m a bit skeptical if I find any conflict with scripture and their lives or their words. I believe that Moses as a prophet was obviously speaking with the authority of God. The things He said that God said all came true. When God spoke through Him with instructions, it was timely and spot on.
The Lord reminds the people to listen to His prophets and follow their instructions. He then answers a question that is probably on everyone’s mind. Check this out…..
21 “But you may wonder, ‘How will we know whether or not a prophecy is from the Lord?’ 22 If the prophet speaks in the Lord’s name but his prediction does not happen or come true, you will know that the Lord did not give that message. That prophet has spoken without my authority and need not be feared. (Deuteronomy 18:21-22 NLT)
I need to listen to preachers, teachers, pastors and prophets through the filter of God’s Word. I can certainly test their predictions, if they make some. If I’m listening to a person whose preaching and teaching are not consistent with God’s Word, then I need to change the channel or delete that podcast. The Lord will prompt me with His Word and with biblical teaching from Godly men and women who also are prompted and are seeking His heart. The rest is just noise from where I sit.
