Prayer Power

I have learned the power of prayer over the years as I continue to walk with the Lord. His Word has convicted me many times to pray and seek His help. I have prayed simple prayers like, “Help!” and I’ve prayed very detailed and specific prayers. My prayers have been all over the place, but my prayers reveal my trust in Him. My prayers reveal my need for Him.

When Solomon finished the Temple and the royal place, he led the people in a huge celebration of praise, worship & thanksgiving. He sacrificed hundreds of animals and led a huge worship time as well as one of the yearly festivals. The timeline of this huge celebration was held somewhere in the fall.  After the celebration was over and the people had gone home, The Lord appeared to Solomon. Check this out….

11 So Solomon finished the Temple of the Lord, as well as the royal palace. He completed everything he had planned to do in the construction of the Temple and the palace. 12 Then one night the Lord appeared to Solomon and said,

“I have heard your prayer and have chosen this Temple as the place for making sacrifices. 13 At times I might shut up the heavens so that no rain falls, or command grasshoppers to devour your crops, or send plagues among you. 14 Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.  (2 Chronicles 7:11-14 NLT)

The Lord no longer dwells in temple made by man. He dwells in our hearts that He made. He does hear our prayer wherever we are. He listens to my cries for help. I believe He is ALWAYS with me. I believe He ALWAYS hears. He doesn’t always do things the way I want, but He listens. I have learned to lots patience through praying. I’ve learned that my first reaction or thought can often be inappropriate or mis-guided. I need to be patient and let Him lead.

I am praying for our local community, our state and our nations leadership. I am praying that the Lord will give them wisdom and insight as they lead. I am praying for an effective vaccine against COVID-19. I’m praying for this day that all I do will honor the Lord. Prayer calls upon the Lord to respond and asked Him to change things. Prayer changes my posture toward the events that happen to me or around me. I’m going to lean into Him and pray about EVERYTHING and worry about NOTHING!

Pressing On!
