Path

I grew up playing on cow paths that the cows made as they walked from one field to the other. They walked in the same way each day and a well-worn path was created.  My brothers and sisters used to play “cowboys and Indians” using these paths and pretending they were roads. We have paths in the woods for our four-wheeler and side by side. Paths usually lead somewhere and someone before us made the path to walk upon. The path makes the travel for others easier.  When Jesus came to earth, He created a path for me to come before God Himself.

King David sought the Father’s heart. He penned many prayers and details of his journey in Psalms.  As I read in Psalms this morning, I was reminded of the importance of the right path. Check this out….

O Lord, I give my life to you.
    I trust in you, my God!
Do not let me be disgraced,
    or let my enemies rejoice in my defeat.
No one who trusts in you will ever be disgraced,
    but disgrace comes to those who try to deceive others.

Show me the right path, O Lord;
    point out the road for me to follow.
Lead me by your truth and teach me,
    for you are the God who saves me.
    All day long I put my hope in you.
Remember, O Lord, your compassion and unfailing love,
    which you have shown from long ages past.
Do not remember the rebellious sins of my youth.
    Remember me in the light of your unfailing love,
    for you are merciful, O Lord.

The Lord is good and does what is right;
    he shows the proper path to those who go astray.
He leads the humble in doing right,
    teaching them his way.

12 Who are those who fear the Lord?
    He will show them the path they should choose. (Psalm 25:1-9,12 NLT)

There is a right path and a wrong path.

There is a path that leads to life and there is a path that leads to death.

The Lord will lead me in the right path if I simply listen to Him. The issue is when there are other loud people trying to put me on a different path. It’s easy to get distracted and wander off the path the Lord is leading me on. It’s important for me to read His Word and listen to Him as I listen for Him. The word of God is the GPS that keeps me on the right path with the Lord.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
