Opportunity

There are occasions where I’m presented with an opportunity that seems too good to pass up. I feel blessed and I feel the favor of God and friends be given opportunities to serve others. I sometimes feel like I don’t deserve the opportunities that are put before me. I’m still learning that the Lord often orchestrates such opportunities for me to introduce Him in some form or fashion.

Opportunities come and go in the routine of my life. If I’m not paying attention, I will miss them. Some opportunities only come around once in a lifetime and other opportunities come around every day.  It takes wisdom and discernment to recognize the value of each instance.

Jesus’ followers were trying to figure out the timing of the end. Jesus was freaking them out a bit talking about when this world comes to an end.  He gives them some good counsel about what to look for and then He tells them about the Presence of the Holy Spirit. Check this out…

You will stand trial before governors and kings because you are my followers. But this will be your opportunity to tell them about me10 For the Good News must first be preached to all nations. 11 But when you are arrested and stand trial, don’t worry in advance about what to say. Just say what God tells you at that time, for it is not you who will be speaking, but the Holy Spirit. (Mark 13:9b-11 NLT)

I heard a question on a podcast once that still reverberates in my mind…. “What would someone else do with my opportunities?”

As I talk to the Lord this morning, I’m asking Him to give me opportunities to speak on His behalf. I’m asking for opportunities to display my deep faith in Him. I don’t think that my faith always needs words. My faith is revealed in action – the opportunities are there to live my faith out loud.

I want to be on high alert today for opportunities to share my faith in actions or in words. I don’t want to miss any opportunity, but I also don’t fret or worry about what to say. His Presence in me will reveal just the right word or words.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
