Opinion

I have an opinion about lots of things. I’ve heard it said that everyone has an opinion about just about everything – I can subscribe to that position. There are some things that I’m a bit indifferent about – meaning I don’t know really have much of an opinion. There are some questions that I should have the correct opinion on for sure – “do these pants make me look fat?”  “Do you like how this looks on me?” I have the correct answer ready every time on these questions of opinion.

I’m reading in John this morning where Jesus heals a guy who was blind from birth. His disciples had just asked a question regarding the man’s blindness. They wanted to know if he was born blind because of his sins or his parents’ sins. Jesus said neither. Then Jesus made some mud using his saliva and put it on the man’s eyes and told him to wash in the pool of Siloam. His blindness was healed, and the man could see. The day Jesus healed him was on the Sabbath. The teachers of the law got involved and questioned the man. They wanted his opinion. Check this out….

17 Then the Pharisees again questioned the man who had been blind and demanded, “What’s your opinion about this man who healed you?”

The man replied, “I think he must be a prophet.”

24 So for the second time they called in the man who had been blind and told him, “God should get the glory for this, because we know this man Jesus is a sinner.”

25 “I don’t know whether he is a sinner,” the man replied. “But I know this: I was blind, and now I can see!”

26 “But what did he do?” they asked. “How did he heal you?”

27 “Look!” the man exclaimed. “I told you once. Didn’t you listen? Why do you want to hear it again? Do you want to become his disciples, too?” (John 9:17,24-27 NLT)

I love this guy. He brought the honor to Jesus, the Son of God for his healing. He had a strong opinion about Who Jesus is.

I have a strong opinion of Who Jesus is because I’ve surrendered my life to Him years ago. I’ve had many occasions to have conversations with Him because I need Him. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God. I believe that He can bring healing when there seems to be no hope. I also believe that everything that happens in my world, should bring honor and glory to Him. I believe that Jesus left me with His Holy Spirit Who guides me and counsels me.  I don’t believe that Jesus was “a Son of God”, I believe He is the One and ONLY Son of God.  My opinion of Who Jesus is may not matter to others, but I know that it matters to God. I believe that everyone who has heard of Jesus had an opinion of Him. It takes faith to believe in Him as the Son of God. I hope that others can see me and how I live out what I believe about Jesus, the Son of God. I hope that my life lived for Him can influence their opinion of Him.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
