One Call

There is an ad for an attorney in Atlanta is this hard to forget. He says, “One call, that’s all”.  He is saying that if you call me, I’ll will take care of everything. I’ve never called him to see if he can take care of everything. I’m a bit skeptical of some advertising that sounds too good to be true, because it usually is.

King Ahaziah had an accident and was badly injured. He sent a messenger to the prophets of Baal to see if he would recover. The Angel of the The Lord sent Elijah to intercept this messenger and give him a different message. Elijah goes to the King and calls him out about calling on Baal instead of the Lord. Check this out….

15 Then the angel of the Lord said to Elijah, “Go down with him, and don’t be afraid of him.” So Elijah got up and went with him to the king.

16 And Elijah said to the king, “This is what the Lord says: Why did you send messengers to Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron, to ask whether you will recover? Is there no God in Israel to answer your question? Therefore, because you have done this, you will never leave the bed you are lying on; you will surely die.”

17 So Ahaziah died, just as the Lord had promised through Elijah. Since Ahaziah did not have a son to succeed him, his brother Joram became the next king. This took place in the second year of the reign of Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah. (2 Kings 1:15-17 NLT)

The Lord wants to be my first call. He wants me to seek Him for wisdom, guidance and general counsel. He will often direct me to the right person after that. I’m still learning that I can talk to Him about everything. He gives me incredible counsel when I seek Him and listen to Him.  He is jealous of my hearts affection and He wants me to seek Him first above anything else. He has blessed me much more than I deserve. He wants my relationship with Him to grow deeper and stronger each day. He wants me to call on Him for the simplest and seemingly insignificant things. He cares about every area of my life. He wants me to trust Him with every area of my life. He wants to be first one call about everything.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
