On My Face

face down prayerI do not wear make-up on my face in the mornings – actually never. I have a face for radio instead of television. If I were a TV personality, I would probably wear some make up to make my face look better on the screen. I’m pretty sure most women wear make-up on their faces in varying amounts. Our faces have much to do with our identity. I look at my face several times throughout the day to make sure it looks ok. (I can only do so much!) I wonder what our faces will be like in heaven. Will we look similar to what we do now?

I came across a passage in Revelation where John describes a scene that he saw that features worship with our face on the ground. Check this out….

After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes and held palm branches in their hands. 10 And they were shouting with a great roar,

“Salvation comes from our God who sits on the throne
    and from the Lamb!”

11 And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living beings. And they fell before the throne with their faces to the ground and worshiped God. 12 They sang,

“Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom
    and thanksgiving and honor
and power and strength belong to our God
forever and ever! Amen.”(Revelation 7:9-12 NLT)

Our posture in worship should reflect our heart. If I’m in awe of His Presence, I might lift my hands, or I might kneel down before Him. I sometimes feel our worship is a bit too proper or structured. This worship scene in heaven features the beings closest to the throne falling on their face in worship. I think it’s the utmost reverent position to the King of Kings. My heart should certainly bow in worship. It really helps me to check my physical posture and align it with my spiritual posture.

Pressing On!
