Not Afraid of The Fight

I am sometimes overwhelmed with gratitude to the men and women who are willing to fight to defend our country. They provide protection for our freedoms. They also go on the offense occasionally to stop people who are threatening our friends around the world. I struggle to completely understand the great sacrifices that are made by the service men and women as well as their spouses and children who are back home when they are serving abroad.

My heart goes out to people who are fighting for their very lives against a disease that is raging in their body, mostly unseen, but there none the less. I am sometimes straight up afraid of having to go through something like that again.

This morning I was reminded of the Presence of God in me when I face any fight. The Lord was speaking to His people as they were about to gather their army for the fight across the Jordan River. He was seeking to inspire and motivate them with the knowledge that He would go before them and deliver the victory to them. Check this out….

1 “When you go out to fight your enemies and you face horses and chariots and an army greater than your own, do not be afraid. The Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, is with you! When you prepare for battle, the priest must come forward to speak to the troops. He will say to them, ‘Listen to me, all you men of Israel! Do not be afraid as you go out to fight your enemies today! Do not lose heart or panic or tremble before them. For the Lord your God is going with you! He will fight for you against your enemies, and he will give you victory!’ (Deuteronomy 20:1-4 NLT)

I am never alone in the fight – the Lord is with me.

I don’t have to worry about fighting strategy – the Lord has that covered.

I don’t have to train for the fight – I just have to trust the Lord.

I must cultivate and exercise my faith and trust in God before, during and after any battle that comes my way.

I have watched others fight courageously against cancer or some other debilitating disease and they have inspired me to lean into God and trust Him no matter what comes my way. I don’t want to fight, but if He leads me into battle, I will go. I totally trust the Lord wherever He leads.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
