Need

I believe that all people need food, shelter, and clothing. I jokingly say that I need food with my meals. I’m thankful for work that helps provide a living where my needs are supplied. I know that Jesus knows what I need. I know that I need Jesus. He is my Provider. His Presence in me changes me and my perspective every day throughout the day.

I love the scene in Matthew when Jesus feeds the people. He sees their need and takes care of it. Check this out…

32 Then Jesus called his disciples and told them, “I feel sorry for these people. They have been here with me for three days, and they have nothing left to eat. I don’t want to send them away hungry, or they will faint along the way.” (Matthew 15:32 NLT)

He noticed their need.

He felt compassion for the people.

He provided for their need.

I need Him and He provides for my needs.  He knows what I need before I need it or know that I need it.

I think it’s important to notice God’s Provision and be grateful for it. I don’t want to start acting like I “deserve this or that”. I want to come before Him with gratitude in my heart for how He provides.

I love Paul’s gratitude expressed to the church in Philippi. Check this out…

18-20 And now I have it all—and keep getting more! The gifts you sent with Epaphroditus were more than enough, like a sweet-smelling sacrifice roasting on the altar, filling the air with fragrance, pleasing God to no end. You can be sure that God will take care of everything you need, his generosity exceeding even yours in the glory that pours from Jesus. Our God and Father abounds in glory that just pours out into eternity. Yes. (Philippians 4:18-20 The Message)

I need Jesus.

I need food.

I need shelter.

I need clothing.

I do believe that I have a role to play in taking care of my needs as well as the needs of others. He provides for my needs. He empowers me to provide for others needs. I need Him to direct my actions. I need His Presence in me all the time. He keeps me on the path that leads to eternal life with God.

Pressing On!
