My Whole Heart

This idea of my heart feeling things and knowing things is a bit weird. I realize that my actual heart is in my chest and pumping life blood throughout my whole body allowing me to live and breathe.  We humans have referred to our “heart” since creation (likely) as the center of our emotional being. There is a serious connection between our heart (aka body pump) and our brain (nerve center). I think the connection is also referred to as our soul.

I think King David referred to his “heart” as his soul. I think this is done throughout scripture. I need to remember that this is how God created me. He wants my heart and my head to be in concert as I live out my life. He wants my soul to have fellowship with Him. David reminds me that trusting the Lord with my whole heart is where this fellowship with God begins. Check this out….

Praise the Lord!
For he has heard my cry for mercy.
The Lord is my strength and shield.
I trust him with all my heart.
He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy.
I burst out in songs of thanksgiving. (Psalm 28:6-7 NLT)

I need to trust the Lord with all my heart NOT just part of it. I need to remember the Power of His Presence within me.  I need His Mercy. I need His Grace. I need His Presence in me. His Presence in me gives me strength and poise that I didn’t know I could possibly have. His Presence in me gives me peace that is hard to understand given the circumstances I face. His Presence in me gives me insight as I trust Him with my future.

This song is my prayer today.

Here’s my heart Lord
Here’s my heart Lord
Here’s my heart Lord
Speak what is true

‘Cause I am found, I am Yours
I am loved, I’m made pure
I have life, I can breathe
I am healed, I am free

‘Cause You are strong, You are sure
You are life, You endure
You are good, always true
You are life breaking through

‘Cause You are more than enough
You are here, You are love
You are hope, You are grace
You’re all I have, You’re everything

Here’s my life Lord
Here’s my life Lord
Here’s my life Lord
Speak what is true
Speak what is true  (written by Tomlin, Ingram & Giglio)

Pressing On!

Dwayne
