My Problem

I’ve actually got more than one problem. If you see me out and about, I act normal. I have multiple problems. The biggest problem is that I’m a sinner, not a saint. I may, at times, appear to be a saint, but I’m really not. If there is anything good in me, it’s because of Jesus living in me. I have wicked thoughts. I have hate-filled thoughts. I can also have some good thoughts too. I think the first step in addressing my sin problem, is admitting that I have a sin problem.

Jesus came to address my sin problem in a big way. He wiped out my sin with His life that He willingly gave up on the cross. He was part of a big plan to take away the sins of the world. I know it may sound outrageous to many, but it is straight-up true. It happened as the prophets foretold and as the historical record attests.

Isaiah wrote about Jesus way before He came to earth. He even foretold my need for a Saviour. Check this out…..

But he was pierced for our rebellion,
    crushed for our sins.
He was beaten so we could be whole.
He was whipped so we could be healed.
All of us, like sheep, have strayed away.
We have left God’s paths to follow our own.
Yet the Lord laid on him
    the sins of us all.

He was oppressed and treated harshly,
yet he never said a word.
He was led like a lamb to the slaughter.
And as a sheep is silent before the shearers,
he did not open his mouth.
Unjustly condemned,
    he was led away.
No one cared that he died without descendants,
that his life was cut short in midstream.
But he was struck down
for the rebellion of my people.
He had done no wrong
    and had never deceived anyone.
But he was buried like a criminal;
he was put in a rich man’s grave.

10 But it was the Lord’s good plan to crush him
    and cause him grief.
Yet when his life is made an offering for sin,
    he will have many descendants.
He will enjoy a long life,
and the Lord’s good plan will prosper in his hands.
11 When he sees all that is accomplished by his anguish,
    he will be satisfied.
And because of his experience,
my righteous servant will make it possible
for many to be counted righteous,
for he will bear all their sins.(Isaiah 53:5-11 NLT)

I’m thankful that even though I had a problem and occasionally have problems, He eradicated my sin problem. I’m counted among the righteous. I’m counted among the saved. I have a future. My sin was heavy, now it’s gone. My heart was dark and scary, now it’s clean and pure. When Jesus came to earth and willingly laid down His life, I am a recipient of His Amazing Love and Grace.

Pressing On!
