Most Holy Part

I really like food with my meals! I am not a huge fan of bread, but the meat and vegetables – that’s my favorite. Recently, my wife purchased some “whole grain” bread. I could see the small grains baked into the bread. I have to admit that it made for a good piece of toast or sandwich.

The grain offerings that the people of Israel were instructed to bring before the Lord sound a bit tasty. They were given some specific instructions as to how the grain offerings were to be prepared and then there is somewhat of a “disclaimer” offered. Check this out….

“No matter how a grain offering for the Lord has been prepared, bring it to the priest, who will present it at the altar. The priest will take a representative portion of the grain offering and burn it on the altar. It is a special gift, a pleasing aroma to the Lord. 10 The rest of the grain offering will then be given to Aaron and his sons as their food. This offering will be considered a most holy part of the special gifts presented to the Lord. (Leviticus 2:8-10 NLT)

It almost sounds as if the part that I give to the Lord is the best part of my harvest. That could also mean that the part that I give to the Lord is the most holy part of my income or time. I guess I never saw my money as holy to the Lord. I think my giving of time and treasure represents my committed heart before the Lord. He loves it when I think of Him first. He loves it when my heart is generous toward others, because He’s generous toward others. I start looking and acting like my Heavenly “Dad”!

I believe giving starts with gratitude. If I’m grateful, I’m more giving. My giving to the Lord is “the most holy part” of anything I have or own. I do my very best to begin each day with gratitude before the Lord. It could be “the most holy part” of my day.

Pressing On!
