Memorable Moments

I love looking back through pictures and videos and see the faces of special people in my life and the moments we had together. There are huge impactful moments and there are simple little moments that are big now, but they were simple at the time. If had known when the last conversation was going to be or the last moment with people I love dearly, I think I would have taken it in a bit more.  I love looking back at pictures of my children and grandchildren because they were little, and they were young. My children are all grown now, and the memorable moments are a bit different.

Jesus had some memorable moments with His followers. I am enjoying watching The Chosen and taking in some of the back stories of Jesus with His followers/students. I think the last supper that He had with His disciples one of those memorable moments that they would not forget. Check this out….

26 As they were eating, Jesus took some bread and blessed it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, “Take this and eat it, for this is my body.”

27 And he took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. He gave it to them and said, “Each of you drink from it, 28 for this is my blood, which confirms the covenant between God and his people. It is poured out as a sacrifice to forgive the sins of many. 29 Mark my words—I will not drink wine again until the day I drink it new with you in my Father’s Kingdom.” (Matthew 26:26-29 NLT)

I appreciate our church’s observance of the last supper each week. It’s a memorable moment for sure. The bread, that represents His body and the juice that represents His blood takes my mind back to His last Passover meal with His disciples where He introduced a different type of Passover for sure.

I want to become keenly aware when memorable moments happen in my life. I told my wife that I’ve been struggling with a birthday that is coming up this next week. It’s a “new decade birthday” and I think I’m finally coming to terms with my age. I know all the cliches about being as old as you feel.  I want the people who know me and love me to have some memorable moments to cherish when I’m no longer here. I’ve never been too concerned with birthdays in the past because I want to make my life count for the Lord rather than count my days.  My moments with the Lord each morning in His Word are memorable and personal for sure. Memorable moments can bring incredible clarity for today.

Pressing On!
