Mediator

Praying ManA Mediator is someone who brings two or more parties together into agreement, by compromise, removal of misunderstanding or reconciliation. The Mediator serves as an unbiased intermediary to settle disputes, disagreements or misunderstandings. In Georgia, you can choose mediation instead of going before a judge. The Mediator can issue judgement between parties and it can become binding on all parties. Mediation is usually much quicker and less time consuming than the formalities of the court. I have served as a mediator between my siblings growing up or my kids. I have needed mediation in disagreements with my kids as they were growing up.

Paul reminded me this morning that Jesus is the Mediator that settled the dispute that we humans had with our Creator. The dispute is also known as sin and it separated us from God. Check this out….

1 I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. For,

There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone.

This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time. (1 Timothy 2:1-6 NLT)

I’m reminded that I can mediate through prayer on other’s behalf. I often pray for people who don’t even know me or know that I’m praying for them. I’m calling out to the Father to step in and move their heart in the right direction. I believe that prayer is a form of mediation that is powerful and effective. Not only does prayer call upon the forces of heaven in all sorts of situations, prayer changes my perspective. I realize through prayer that the Lord is in charge and I’m not.

I believe that I should pray for the leadership in my county, my state, my country as well as the other world leaders whom I will probably never meet or know. I certainly don’t know much about our leaders personally. I do know better than to believe everything I read or hear about them in the news. I am committed to mediate on their behalf before the Lord. I’m asking Him to give them wisdom, discernment, clarity, vision and very clear focus on their area of influence and leadership.

I believe that prayer is the least I can do as well as the best thing I can do for others.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
