Location Specific
In Real Estate world, the three big words are: Location, Location, Location! You can’t pick up real property and move it. You can move buildings and other things on the land, but you can’t move the land.
I grew up thinking that meeting the Lord was location specific, but thankfully He goes on location wherever I am. I thought there was something special about the church building or the “sanctuary” at church. I think these thoughts and ideas came from the Old Testament because the Lord met people in the Tabernacle and later in the Temple. Check this out….
89 Whenever Moses went into the Tabernacle to speak with the Lord, he heard the voice speaking to him from between the two cherubim above the Ark’s cover—the place of atonement—that rests on the Ark of the Covenant. The Lord spoke to him from there. (Numbers 7:89 NLT)
I believe the voice of God can speak to me wherever and whenever He wants. He does speak to me in the music, message, in a conversation at church. He can also speak to me when I’m riding a lawn mower, taking a shower, eating dinner, or whatever I’m doing at home. Jesus gave us direct access to God without ritual or schedule. I’ve never heard the audible voice of God. I’m suspicious of people that say “God told me this or God told me that. I do believe that you can be led by the Spirit of God. It feels like some people say God told them things that really sound like what they wanted to hear from God. For example, “God told me to buy this car”. I guess I’m a bit skeptical because I’ve seen this abused and since walking with God is personal and not easy to discern.
I do believe that the closer I walk with the Lord, the more I feel His Presence and His Spirit guiding me even in small, seemingly insignificant decisions. I try to make a big deal about or lean on those promptings as a crutch. I just want to talk personally to Him about everything and worry about nothing.
I believe that God goes with me anywhere and everywhere I go. I believe that He can speak to me anywhere and everywhere I go. Conversations with God are not “location specific” – it’s wherever I am, He is with me and in me.
