Listen & Follow

I could grow as a listener. I am often preoccupied with what my response will be, and I’m not always present in the moment. If someone is speaking and I’m not listening, it’s simply background noise. I have learned that this is not a good practice with those you love and work closely with. It’s important to listen carefully. Listening shows tremendous respect from the listener to the speaker.  I’ve been reminded that I have four listening devices – two ears and two eyes. There is nearly always a lot of “non-verbal” talking going on.

Paul is reminding the church at Galatia about their freedom in Christ. He is reminding me that the law has spoken, but Jesus is still speaking to us today through the Holy Spirit. Check this out…

25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives26 Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another. (Galatians 5:25-26 NLT)

I want to carefully listen to the Spirit’s leading in my life and then I want to obediently act upon it. He speaks to me in His Word. He speaks through others to me. He speaks in a nudge or “feeling”. He speaks to me through a song. He can speak through a video.  He can and does speak to me anywhere and at any time. It’s my responsibility to tune my ears to listen carefully. I should also follow what He’s leading me to do. It’s one thing to hear Him direct my path, I must “follow through” by following His direction

Pressing On!
