Leadership Vacuum

I love the story of Gideon and how he let the Lord lead him during a challenging time. He grew up knowing about God. Then Gideon received a visit from The Angel of The Lord and The Angel told him what was about to happen. Gideon thought it was prank or that it simply wasn’t true. He asked The Angel for a sign and was given more than one sign, so Gideon decided that God was actually calling him to lead.  He followed the Lord’s guidance and after paring his army down from 32,000 to just 300, he led them to victory over the Midianites.

He even took these 300 men and tracked down the kings of Midian who had fled and killed them personally. Check this out….

28 That is the story of how the people of Israel defeated Midian, which never recovered. Throughout the rest of Gideon’s lifetime—about forty years—there was peace in the land.

33 As soon as Gideon died, the Israelites prostituted themselves by worshiping the images of Baal, making Baal-berith their god. 34 They forgot the Lord their God, who had rescued them from all their enemies surrounding them. 35 Nor did they show any loyalty to the family of Jerub-baal (that is, Gideon), despite all the good he had done for Israel. (Judges 8:28,33-35 NLT)

It appears that every time a great leader dies, the people revert to bad choices and ignorance. Their memories are very short when it comes to God’s involvement in their lives.  I can be the same way at times. I’ve witnessed first-hand the Power of God’s leadership, His Love and His Presence. It is way too easy to forget just what a difference He makes in ANY situation.

He is Mighty To Save.

He is The Waymaker.

He is The God of Revival

You Keep On Getting Better

I’m going to Be Still

I’m going to trust leaders who point me to the Lord. I’m going to trust leaders who are followers of the Lord too. I’m going to “trust the Lord with all my heart and not lean on my own understanding.”

I want to follow the Lord no matter who is leading. I want Him to lead me through every possible circumstance. If I’m leading anyone, it’s to point them to Him NOT me.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
