Lead Me

I served as a youth pastor for just over 20 years. I was connected with the church leadership. I was a leader of the students for sure. I was involved at the highest levels of the local church leadership. Looking back, I’m a bit embarrassed about how those meetings went over the years. It was usually about someone’s agenda, not the Lord’s agenda. It was as if the church belonged to the elders instead of the Lord. We didn’t pray much, but we sure did talk a lot and make lots of decisions. I really regret not asking our leadership team to pray about everything before deciding anything.

There were times in ministry where I was very discouraged, and I needed to hear from the Lord. I needed the leadership to pray for me and pray over me.

I’ve learned that no matter what career path I’m on, I’m in ministry.

I’ve learned that no matter what career path I’m on, I should still pray about everything.

I’ve learned that no matter what career path I’m on, I need the Lord to lead me.

David went through some seasons of his life where he was a bit lost. He fled from Saul because his life was threatened. He later fled from his son because kingdom was threatened. He sought the Lord in these seasons of his life. Check this out….

Come quickly, Lord, and answer me,
    for my depression deepens.
Don’t turn away from me,
    or I will die.
Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning,
    for I am trusting you.
Show me where to walk,
for I give myself to you.
Rescue me from my enemies, Lord;
I run to you to hide me.
10 Teach me to do your will,
    for you are my God.
May your gracious Spirit lead me forward
    on a firm footing.
11 For the glory of your name, O Lord, preserve my life.
Because of your faithfulness, bring me out of this distress. (Psalm 143:7-11 NLT)

When the Lord leads my life and my career, He gets all the credit for any success that I experience. I want the Lord to lead me to the right clients and customers to help them with their real estate needs. He is with me when the market tanks and He is with me when it’s a bit bullish and strong. He is steady and Present with me. He keeps me grounded. He helps me up when I get knocked down. He directs my path when I listen and look to Him for His leadership in my life.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
