Immovable Rock

stone isolated white background natural rock granite solid bouldMy wife loves big rocks. She likes the use them as part of the landscape at our home. She doesn’t always think about how much they weigh or how hard they are to move, she just likes them and will often ask me to make it happen. There is some science to this for sure. If the rock weighs a certain amount I can roll it onto a trailer and deliver it. On the other hand if the rock is too heavy, a tractor will be involved. Some rocks are so huge; they simply have to be left alone.

The people of Judah and Jerusalem were facing enemies the wanted them destroyed, but The Lord was protecting them. Judah was nearby observing what was happening in Jerusalem and they figured out the secret to Jerusalem’s strength. Check this out…

3 On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves. 4 On that day I will strike every horse with panic and its rider with madness,’ declares the Lord. ‘I will keep a watchful eye over Judah, but I will blind all the horses of the nations. 5 Then the clans of Judah will say in their hearts, “The people of Jerusalem are strong, because the Lord Almighty is their God.” (Zechariah 12:3-5 NIV)

I want my faith to be an immovable rock. I want to trust the Lord without worry and without question. I know that the Lord walks with me and directs my path. I also know that He is my Defense and my Protector. My trust in the Lord is not scientific – it’s deeply spiritual. My faith in the Lord is not simply based on words, it’s also based on my journey with Him over the years. I’ve seen what He is capable of. I’ve experienced His Presence. I’ve experienced His Power to rescue and save. I really want to have a simple faith in Him that is bedrock strong! I want others to notice that my inner strength comes from the fact that the Lord Almighty is my God and I trust Him completely.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
