If Wisdom Could Shout!

The characteristics of my heart are silent in and of themselves. They shout out loud via my actions and the activities of my day.  What if wisdom, understanding, patience and integrity could speak out loud to me. I would propose that they do speak out loud through the voice of others. I know that my parents and grandparents have offered me wisdom over the years. I know that many sermons have been preached on all these subjects. I have to tune my hearing to the proper frequency to here from wisdom and understanding.

Solomon writes as if wisdom is personified and came into the room and sat down for a chat. Check this out….

You simple people, use good judgment.
You foolish people, show some understanding.
Listen to me! For I have important things to tell you.
Everything I say is right,
for I speak the truth
and detest every kind of deception.
My advice is wholesome.
There is nothing devious or crooked in it.
My words are plain to anyone with understanding,
clear to those with knowledge.
10 Choose my instruction rather than silver,
and knowledge rather than pure gold.
11 For wisdom is far more valuable than rubies.
Nothing you desire can compare with it.

12 “I, Wisdom, live together with good judgment.
I know where to discover knowledge and discernment.

14 Common sense and success belong to me.
Insight and strength are mine.

17 “I love all who love me.
Those who search will surely find me.
18 I have riches and honor,
as well as enduring wealth and justice.
19 My gifts are better than gold, even the purest gold,
my wages better than sterling silver!
20 I walk in righteousness,
in paths of justice.
21 Those who love me inherit wealth.
I will fill their treasuries. (Proverbs 8:5-23,14,17-21 NLT)

I believe that the very Spirit of God lives in me when I seek His heart. When I chose to become a Christ follower and was baptized into Him, His Spirit came to dwell in me. His Spirit brings all sorts of gifts to my heart. He certainly brings wisdom and understanding with Him. He wants to guide my steps, my words and ever action or activity that I participate in. He wants the actions and activities of my life to reflect the presence of Christ in me. A person who is wise and full of understanding didn’t get that on their own (in my opinion) – wisdom and understanding come from the Lord. Experience will teach some, but the wisdom that the Lord gives comes from the inside of my soul outward into my actions. He whispers to me and He shouts to me from within if my regular “hearing” is not working!

Pressing On!
