I Forgot

Don't forgetI used to think it was comical that others used these two words when asked about what they had done or not done. The older I get the easier it seems for me to forget. Our memory is a remarkable function of our brain. Just last night something reminded me about sitting on a cactus plant at a very young age and my mom pulling the prickles out of my back side one at a time. I think it’s crazy that something today can trigger a memory of something that happened over 45 years ago.

If only my memory of my journey with the Lord could stay that vivid. When I stop and reflect upon my life journey, I see the Hand of the Lord all over my life. I would be wise to remember His Faithfulness and His Presence in my life over the years. The people of Israel kept forgetting all that He had done for them. Check this out…

9 Egypt will become a desolate wasteland. Then they will know that I am the Lord.

16 Egypt will no longer be a source of confidence for the people of Israel but will be a reminder of their sin in turning to her for help. Then they will know that I am the Sovereign Lord.’”

21 “On that day I will make a horn (strength) grow for the Israelites, and I will open your mouth among them. Then they will know that I am the Lord.” (Ezekiel 29:9,16, 21 NIV)

I don’t ever want to forget what it’s like to see the Power of The Lord.

I don’t ever want to forget what it’s like to feel the Presence of The Lord.

I don’t ever want to forget what it’s like to walk with The Lord.

I want my memory of the Lord’s Presence and His work in me to remain vibrant and strong for years to come. I want my life to reflect the fact that I remember Who He is and what He’s done for me!

Pressing On!
