Hope In God

I have had my share of suffering and difficulty. I’m confident that it’s not over yet. Suffering and difficulty are simply part of our existence on this earth. There is evil and hatred in our world, just like there is good and love in this world. Those who follow Jesus see the struggles and difficulty differently. My perspective on my situation is important. If I view my life through the lens of the Word of God, I will see it significantly different than most.

Bildad, the Shuhite (smallest man in scripture – “shoe height” – sorry, couldn’t resist!) really speaks some truth to Job. I don’t think Job was ready to hear it, but he says it anyway. Check this out….

“Just ask the previous generation.
Pay attention to the experience of our ancestors.
For we were born but yesterday and know nothing.
Our days on earth are as fleeting as a shadow.
10 But those who came before us will teach you.
They will teach you the wisdom of old.

11 “Can papyrus reeds grow tall without a marsh?
Can marsh grass flourish without water?
12 While they are still flowering, not ready to be cut,
they begin to wither more quickly than grass.
13 The same happens to all who forget God.
The hopes of the godless evaporate.

20 “But look, God will not reject a person of integrity,
nor will he lend a hand to the wicked.
21 He will once again fill your mouth with laughter
and your lips with shouts of joy.
22 Those who hate you will be clothed with shame,
and the home of the wicked will be destroyed.” (Job 8:8-13, 20-22 NLT)

My hope is in the Lord, Who is the Giver and Sustainer of life.

I put my trust in His Hands – He will keep me close.

I love this song by Aaron Shust called “My Hope Is You”

I meet with You and my soul sings out
As your word throws doubt far away
I sing to You and my heart cries
“Holy! Hallelujah, Father, You’re near!”

I wait for You and my soul finds rest
In my selfishness, You show me grace
I worship You and my heart cries “Glory
Hallelujah, Father, You’re here!”

My hope is in You, Lord
All the day long I won’t be shaken by drought or storm
A peace that passes understanding is my song
And I sing my hope is in You, Lord

I will wait on You
You are my refuge
I will wait on You
You are my refuge

No matter what I face in this life, I want to keep putting my hope and my trust in the Lord. He is all I really need. My life, my family, my friends, my health….. EVERYTHING else is a blessing on top of knowing Him as my only need and my only hope.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
