Honest

I will often look up a word in the dictionary that jumped off the pages of God’s Word. This morning, the word honest jumped out. I was taught the value of honest at a young age when I was busted by my parents for being dishonest. I also learned how it hurts me and my relationships with others to have even a hint of dishonesty. I can’t control what others say about me, but I can control what I do. I also welcome anyone to reach out to me and ask questions regarding any thing I’m a part of. If the answer is confidential, I will tell you that.

There are so many words that define the word honest. honorable in principles, intentions, and actions; upright and fair; showing uprightness and fairness sincere; genuine; respectable; having a good reputation; truthful or creditable; humble, plain, or unadorned. (dictionary.com)

The Lord knows me like no one else. He sees what is done in secret. He knows my every thought. He hears and knows every word I speak.

When Moses is giving the people of Israel some “last minute” instructions about functioning as a new nation, he adds honest to the list. Check this out….

13 “You must use accurate scales when you weigh out merchandise, 14 and you must use full and honest measures. 15 Yes, always use honest weights and measures, so that you may enjoy a long life in the land the Lord your God is giving you. 16 All who cheat with dishonest weights and measures are detestable to the Lord your God. (Deuteronomy 25:13-16 NLT)

My Pappy had a store and sold lunch meat and cheese by the pound. I watched him always make sure he gave a little extra in case the scales might be off a bit. He was an honest and honorable man.

Honest is a choice. Honest is a virtue. Honest is a value. I believe that we always have a choice of being honest or dishonest. This quote is speaking truth….. “When your values are clear, your decisions are easy”.

Pressing On!
