Holy Highway

I travel on the highway and back roads every day. I actually spend a lot of time “on the road”. I like finding new roads to go to a familiar destination – it’s called the scenic route. Thanks to my GPS, I’ve seen some cool places that I wouldn’t have ever seen except I took a different route. I was amazed a few years ago as they were adding an additional lane to Interstate 20 that goes east to west across Georgia. The foundation of the road was carefully crafted, and the thickness of the pavement looked to be 18” or more. The Interstate system here in the US is quite amazing and helpful and makes travel more convenient.

Isaiah speaks of a Highway of Holiness that the Lord is building as He plans to restore His people. Check this out….

8 And a great road will go through that once deserted land.
It will be named the Highway of Holiness.
Evil-minded people will never travel on it.
    It will be only for those who walk in God’s ways;
    fools will never walk there.
Lions will not lurk along its course,
    nor any other ferocious beasts.
There will be no other dangers.
Only the redeemed will walk on it.
10 Those who have been ransomed by the Lord will return.
    They will enter Jerusalem singing,
    crowned with everlasting joy.
Sorrow and mourning will disappear,
and they will be filled with joy and gladness. (Isaiah 35:8-10 NLT)

This road will be filled with godly people.

This road will represent hope for good people.

This road will represent a different direction and destination.

I often speak of my faith as a journey. I was reminded this morning that not only is my faith a journey, but the Lord provides the road that I’m to travel upon.

I want Him to light my path and show me the “on ramp” to this road.

I want Him to manage my heart on the journey.

I want to be part of the singing on this road.

I want to experience amazing relationships on this road.

I want to stay on this “Holy Highway” all the way to heaven’s gates.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
