Here’s Your Sign

wisdom, stupidity road signThe comedian Bill Engvall made this statement several years ago by releasing a recording of a comedy routine called “Here’s Your sign”. His routine would begin with his stating that stupid people should have to wear warning signs that simply state “I’m stupid.” He then goes on to tell several anecdotes in which someone asks a really stupid question, and the question is then answered sarcastically, followed by the statement: “Here’s your sign!” For example, a trucker gets his truck stuck under an overpass, and the responding policeman asks “Hey, you get your truck stuck?” The trucker answers, “No sir, I was delivering that overpass and I ran out of gas. Here’s your sign.” You can find more info about comedian/actor Bill Engvall here.

The people of Jerusalem were warned time and time again that destruction was coming because of their rebellion against the Lord. This time the Lord told Ezekiel to build an object lesson for them. Check this out…

1 ‘Now, son of man, take a block of clay, put it in front of you and draw the city of Jerusalem on it. 2 Then lay siege to it: erect siege works against it, build a ramp up to it, set up camps against it and put battering-rams around it. 3 Then take an iron pan, place it as an iron wall between you and the city and turn your face towards it. It will be under siege, and you shall besiege it. This will be a sign to the people of Israel. (Ezekiel 4:1-3 NIV)

I believe that Lord puts signs in my path if I will notice. Sometimes He uses a billboard and other times He whispers. I believe if I will walk closely with Him that He will direct my path using all sorts of methods to speak to me and speak into me. I’ve been driving down the road and a song come on the radio that speaks volumes to where I am and also give indication about where I need to go. I believe that the Lord can direct and arrange whatever He needs to do in order to get my attention and speak into my life. My role is to look for the signs that He is putting before me.

The Word of God gives me quite a detailed road map that connects with the signs along the way. I’m thankful to the Lord for being a Light to shine through the darkness and show me the way to go.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
