Helpless

It is a scary feeling to feel helpless. I remember one of my good friends and former interns who came upon an accident years ago where the car caught on fire and he couldn’t get the driver out and he watched him die in the flames. My friend was distraught over being helpless and knowing that the guy was someone’s brother or son. I can only imagine how doctors and nurses in the Emergency Room must feel when someone comes in and they do everything they can to save the person and they end of dying anyway. I have felt helpless more times than I can count, but thankfully, I no longer feel hopeless. The Presence of God in me changed my outlook and certainly changed my future.

David reminded me this morning that the Lord has His watchful eye on us and He never leaves us or ignores us. He brings help to helpless and hope to the hopeless. Check this out….

16 The Lord is king forever and ever!
The godless nations will vanish from the land.
17 Lord, you know the hopes of the helpless.
Surely you will hear their cries and comfort them.
18 You will bring justice to the orphans and the oppressed,
so mere people can no longer terrify them.  (Psalm 10:16-18 NLT)

There are people in our world that feel completely helpless. They are broke and brokenhearted. They feel like they are damaged goods. They have lost their sense of value to the Lord. He has never lost someone or forgotten where they were. I have forgotten Who His in the past.  I have lost me, but He has never lost me.  He is my Protector and Defender. I love this song by Rita Springer called Defender.

You go before I know
That You’ve gone to win my war
You come back with the head of my enemy
You come back and You call it my victory

All I did was praise
All I did was worship
All I did was bow down
All I did was stay still

Hallelujah, You have saved me
So much better Your way
Hallelujah, great Defender
So much better Your way

You know before I do
Where my heart can seek to find Your truth
Your mercy is the shade I’m living in
You restore my faith and hope again

When I thought I lost me
You knew where I left me
You reintroduced me to Your love
You picked up all my pieces
Put me back together
You are the defender of my heart

I love the bridge above. It has spoken to my heart so that I don’t ever have to feel helpless or hopeless. He picks up the pieces of my life and builds them into a beautiful mosaic for His purpose.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
