Heart Change

I know that the only thing we can count on as constant is change. My life is constantly changing. I actually like growing, although I’m not as excited about change in my body as I age! I am a bit slower than I once was, but I feel like my mind is still growing as I read books and embrace growth strategies. I a self-proclaimed “podcast nerd” as well. It is easy to learn and grow every day. It’s also easy to just meet the status quo.

I also like learning more about God’s heart and His call upon my heart. He speaks into my heart each day through His Word or through teachings from His Word. This morning was no exception as Jeremiah relayed the Lord’s call to His people. Check this out….

This is what the Lord says to the people of Judah and Jerusalem:

Plow up the hard ground of your hearts!
Do not waste your good seed among thorns.
O people of Judah and Jerusalem,
    surrender your pride and power.
Change your hearts before the Lord,

or my anger will burn like an unquenchable fire
because of all your sins.(Jeremiah 4:3-4 NLT)

My heart needs constant maintenance before the Lord. Pride is always hanging around trying to sneak in and make itself known and even taking charge of my heart at times. I do believe that any and all sin can be traced to pride. Pride is the enemy of surrender. Pride is the enemy of every good virtue that the Lord wants to cultivate inside my heart. This morning is no exception as our area is getting some spring rains. My heart needs nurturing just like our soil needs sunshine and rain to grow crops. The Lord wants my heart to be receptive and fertile to receive the Word He plants there.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
