He Is

There are times when my mind begins to understand a bit more about God and Who He is. I usually encounter this when I’m witnessing His creation, or I’ve just seen something that only He could do.

I was reading this morning in Acts when Paul was speaking to the Greek philosophers in Athens about God. They had many gods and they even had an alter made “To an unknown God” so that they didn’t leave any god out. Paul used this opportunity to introduce them to God so that He would no longer be “unknown” to them. Check this out….

24 “He is the God who made the world and everything in it. Since he is Lord of heaven and earth, he doesn’t live in man-made temples, 25 and human hands can’t serve his needs—for he has no needs. He himself gives life and breath to everything, and he satisfies every need. 26 From one man he created all the nations throughout the whole earth. He decided beforehand when they should rise and fall, and he determined their boundaries.

27 “His purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him—though he is not far from any one of us. 28 For in him we live and move and exist. (Acts 17:24-28a NLT)

I was reminded of one of new favorite songs called “He Is” by Crowder.

If you’re troubledHeavy hearted
Come to Jesus and find your peace

If you’re run down
Empty handed
Come to Jesus and find your strength

He is Hope for the hopeless
Rest for the weary
Help for the hurting
He is, He is

Mending the broken
Bearing the burdens
All that you’re needing
He is

If you’re wandering
In the darkness
Come to Jesus and find your way

If you want freedom
Need forgiveness
Just come to Jesus and find His grace

Comforter, Counselor, Prince of Peace
Author and Maker of everything
Defender, Deliverer, King of Kings
He is, He is

Helper and Healer forevermore
Savior and Shelter through every storm
My Refuge, Redeemer, and Lord of Lords
He is, He is

Child of Heaven and Son of Man
Provider, Protector, the Great I Am
Alpha Omega, Beginning and End
He is, He is

The reason God sent His Son to the earth was so that we could know Him, love Him, and serve Him with our brief lives here in the land of the dying. He wants to welcome us home to the land of the living. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

Pressing On!
