Have You Ever?

Have you ever had some ask a question that made you feel stupid?

Have you ever asked someone a question to make them feel small?

I have known people that I don’t want to get in a verbal sparring match with them, because they are “quick witted”, and they will defeat me soundly with words. I do not consider myself “quick on my feet”, but I am willing to research and verify the things that were said. An attorney arguing a case in the courtroom must be quick to respond to argument and rebuttal.

Job is being cross examined by God Himself.  God is doing rapid-fire questions with Job. I feel sure that the Lord is reminding Job of the answers with these questions. Check this out….

12 “Have you ever commanded the morning to appear
    and caused the dawn to rise in the east?
13 Have you made daylight spread to the ends of the earth,
    to bring an end to the night’s wickedness?
14 As the light approaches,
    the earth takes shape like clay pressed beneath a seal;
    it is robed in brilliant colors (Job 38:12-14 NLT)

The answers to the Lord’s questions to Job are obvious. Job doesn’t understand the ways of God. Job doesn’t understand the responsibility that God has. I think that these questions are humbling to Job as well.

I want to humble myself before the Lord and trust Him with every part of my life. I don’t consider myself righteous and I can’t imagine being Creator of all things. It’s hard to think of God in any other terms than human terms. I imagine that He has eyes, ears, face, arms, legs, etc…  I am going to trust the Lord and surrender to Him daily. I want to know His heart. I want to know His plans.  I want Him to supply me with answers to any questions He might have.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
