Hard Heart

I’ve been accused of being hard-headed and stubborn. I try not to get my feelings hurt too much by that because there are convictions and things that I believe that are non- negotiable.  I will dig in hard on those things. With other things and ideas, I like to be creative and flexible.

On my faith journey, I’ve decided to stand firm on the issues where the Word of God stands firm. I don’t follow certain preachers or teacher and subscribe to everything they believe. I find that God’s Word is clear and relatively easy to understand. With the help of The Helper – The Holy Spirit, God’s Word become crystal clear for me.

In the early days of Jesus’ ministry, He is presented with a bit of a dilemma. He meets a man who has a deformed hand. Jesus knows He’s being watched by the “religious leaders”. These religious leaders had taken the law of Moses and made it even more stringent and strict.  Check this out….

Jesus said to the man with the deformed hand, “Come and stand in front of everyone.” Then he turned to his critics and asked, “Does the law permit good deeds on the Sabbath, or is it a day for doing evil? Is this a day to save life or to destroy it?” But they wouldn’t answer him.

He looked around at them angrily and was deeply saddened by their hard hearts. Then he said to the man, “Hold out your hand.” So the man held out his hand, and it was restored! At once the Pharisees went away and met with the supporters of Herod to plot how to kill Jesus. (Mark 3:2-6 NLT)

I don’t want to have a hard heart before the Lord.

I don’t want to be so set in my “religious ways” that I can’t hear Him speak into my heart.

I want to follow Jesus, the One and Only Son of God.

I want my life to reflect His Love, His Mercy and His Grace toward lost people. I don’t want to be hardheaded or hard hearted when it comes to my faith. I want to have a heart that is shapable and teachable before God.  I want to listen to Him. I want to honor Him. I want to always follow His leading upon my head, my heart and my life.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
