Glad

I try to see the glass half full instead of half empty. I try hard to be an optimist – one who expects a favorable outcome or one who takes a favorable view of most every situation. I sometimes fail miserably at this. It is sometimes a challenge to be an optimist and a “realist” at the same time. I think there is a difference in glad, happy & joyful. I believe glad and happy are a result of things going my way or a good situation. Joy comes from deep within my soul and is present regardless of current circumstances.

The Lord has really changed my outlook on life. I believe that the Lord is present in my day to day life. I don’t believe that He put things on auto-pilot and then sat down to watch the world turn. I believe He cares about my life. I believe His Spirit is in me and chooses to work through me to serve others. King David pens a Psalm and I believe is use of the word glad is more about inner joy than outward circumstances. Check this out….

But let the godly rejoice.
    Let them be glad in God’s presence.
    Let them be filled with joy.
Sing praises to God and to his name!
    Sing loud praises to him who rides the clouds.
His name is the Lord—
    rejoice in his presence!

Father to the fatherless, defender of widows—
    this is God, whose dwelling is holy.
God places the lonely in families;
    he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy.
But he makes the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.(Psalm 68:3-6 NLT)

God is actively involved in people lives, especially those who welcome Him. I believe that God orchestrated the arrival of 5 orphans from Nicaragua nearly seven and a half years ago. The Lord cares for widows and orphans. He is near to the lonely. He is present in prison with people who have wrecked their lives. He is there even when I’m not paying attention to His Presence. When I pay close attention to His Presence, peace enters my heart. His Presence changes my perspective and He can change ANY outcome to His pleasing.

I want to live a life glad of His Presence in me. I want to sing songs that reflect my grateful heart. He loves to hear my heart sing to Him.
