Final Conclusion

I like getting to the end of a good book and the conclusion is “nail-biting”, yet it wraps up the entire book. I don’t like conclusions that are “open-ended” and the good guys loose. I also don’t like “to be continued”.  I’m not sure I would like to be a judge. When I hear just one side of a story, I have to keep telling myself that there is always another side to the story.  A judge hears all of the evidence and makes a final decision or conclusion within the boundaries of law. Conclusions are a part of life just like “introductions”. I’m thankful for some conclusions because a particular season of life was hard and challenging. The conclusion can “sneak up” on me if I’m not fully engaged and paying close attention.

I may be accused of being a bit morbid, but I do think about how my life on earth will come to a conclusion. If I could script it out, I would certainly remind all my loved ones and all who know me at all, to give your heart to Jesus. He is the One and Only Son of God. He brought with Him grace and mercy. He will help me finish well.

King Solomon brought his book of Ecclesiastes to a “final conclusion” and he had some final counsel that is straightforward and strong. Check this out….

13 That’s the whole story. Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty. 14 God will judge us for everything we do, including every secret thing, whether good or bad. (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 NLT)

I’m thankful that because of Grace, the Lord God has forgotten my stupid, sordid past. He reminds me that His Son gave His life to remove my past and open up the doorway to a bright future in heaven. Jesus made a way where there seemed to be no way. He rewrote the conclusion of my life to include amazing grace and complete forgiveness of my sin. I am so humbled and thankful that the “bad marks” in my past have been erased and remembered no more by the Lord. My final conclusion will be that I trusted Jesus and lived my life for Him. My final conclusion on this earth will be followed by an eternal sequel!!

Pressing On!

Dwayne
